Services Held
William J. Kool, 81, of Newton since 1967, died June 22, 1992, at Skiff Medical Center of heart failure.
Funeral services were held at the First United Methodist Church.
The Rev. John Moorlach, pastor of the Killduff United Methodist Church, conducted services. Burial was in Newton Union Cemetery.
Memorials will go to Progress Industries, Killduff United Methodist Church or the American Cancer Society.
Survivors are his wife, Alice; four sons and daughters-in-law, Paul and Sharon Kool and James Kool, all of Newton; Norman and Jackie Kool of Cedar Rapids and John and Phyliss Kool of Plattsmouth, Neb.; three daughters and sons-in-law, Mary and Ron Goecke of State Center, Helen and Gene Kaldenberg of Reasnor and Joan and Chris Doran of Boone; 25 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Also surviving are a brother, Frederick L. of Monroe, and two sisters, Marguerite (Mrs. Howard) Young of Monroe and Dorothy (Mrs. Phil) Stevens of Montrose, Colo.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Lewis, Abram and Dan, and a sister, Marie Canfield.
Mr. Kool, a member of the Killduff United Methodist Church, had farmed near Killduff until retiring in 1967.
The son of Arie and Dora Dieleman Kool, he was born Nov. 14, 1910, near Galesburg and attended a rural school west of Monroe and Monroe Community High School.
He was married to Alice M. Kersbergen March 7, 1939 in Monroe.
