Will Hold Mahan Rites Tomorrow
Funeral Services For Former Jasper County Woman to Be Held in Kellogg
Kellogg, Dec. 21 - Special - Funeral services for Mrs. Julia Mahan of Harvey, Ill., formerly a resident of Kellogg, will be held here tomorrow morning at 10 o'clock in the Christian church. Burial will be in Our Silent City.
The Rev. H. H. Fletcher, pastor of the Methodist Episcopal church, will be in charge of the services. Music will be furnished by a male quartet composed of Charles C. Powers, T. L. Birchard, R. C. Birchard and Fred Lemke, which will be accompanied on the piano by Miss Inez Powers.
The body will arrive in Kellogg this evening.
Born in Vermont
Mrs. Mahan was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Carlton Braley. She was born near Montpelier, Vt. 78 years ago and moved with her parents to a farm near Kellogg in 1866.
She was married in Kellogg to George Mahan and she and her husband made their home on a farm north of Kellogg until 1890 when they moved to Harvey, Ill., where they made their home until the death of Mrs. Mahan Wednesday morning.
Relatives Survive
She is survived by her husband, four brothers, Fred A. Braley of Pasadena, Calif., Frank Braley of Pasadena, Calif., J. C. Braley of Harvey and Ed. R. Braley, and one sister, Mrs. Agnes Failor of Ames, Ia.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Allson H. Braley and George Braley and five sisters, Mrs. Ellen Goodhue of Newton, Mrs. Jennie Whitcomb of Washington, Mrs. Lucy M. Failor of Newton, Mrs. Lillian Young and Miss Mary Braley.
Fred A. Braley, a brother, was on his way from California at the time of his sister's death and was met by a telegram giving him the news when he reached Newton.

Mahan Funeral Services Held
Rites For Former Kellogg Woman Held This Morning at 10 O'clock
Funeral services for Mrs. Julia Mahan were conducted this morning at 10 o'clock at the Christian church in Kellogg and burial was in Our Silent City. Rev. H. H. Fletcher, pastor of the Methodist Episcopal church of Kellogg had charge of the services.
Music was furnished by a male quartet composed of Charles C. Powers, T. L. Birchard, R. C. Birchard and Fred Lemke, accompanied on the piano by Miss Inez Powers.
Mrs. Mahan, former resident of Kellogg, died Wednesday morning at her home in Harvey, Ill. The body arrived in Kellogg last evening.
