Former Employee of Newton Post Office is Buried in Union Cemetery.

Funeral services for Earl Hammer, well known Newton man who died Wednesday afternoon, were held at 2 o'clock yesterday in the First Methodist Episcopal church following short services held at the home. Burial was in the Newton Union cemetery.

The large auditorium of the church was crowded by the large number of friends Mr. Hammer had made in the many years he had made his home in Newton. Employees of the post office attended the services in a body.

Music was furnished by Richard Toedt, accompanied on the organ by Miss Zona Chase. Mr. Toedt sang, "In The Garden" and "The Old Rugged Cross." The many floral offerings were cared for by Miss Reva Meredith and Miss Ruth Campbell, and the transportation was furnished by the Newton post office.

Pallbearers, all of whom were life-long friends of Mr. Hammer, were Louis Toedt, Joyce Suman, Tracey Ryan, Dick Kennedy, Ross Starrett and Ray Whittaker.
