Lee Stevens, 60, Bowling Green Farmer, is Dead.

Lee Stevens, 60 year old farmer of Bowling Green community and a veteran of World War I, died Wednesday evening at Clay County Hospital following an illness of three years.

He was born July 15, 1894 in Owen County, the son of Samuel and Alice Shepherd Stevens. Mr. Stevens was a member of the Spencer Post of American Legion.

Surviving are a sister, Mrs. Harley Orman of Clay City; and three brothers, Clarence (Stephens), of Detroit, Coy of Bowling Green, and Zenas of Newton, Iowa.

The body was taken to Hentschler Funeral Home in Center Point, where friends may call at any time. Final rites will be held from Swalley Methodist Church Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock with the Rev. Carl Froderman officiating. Burial will be in the adjoining cemetery. The body will be taken in the church one hour before time of services to lie in state. ~ Newspaper unknown, Jan 1954.
