February 13, 1950 - April 23, 2016

Donald William Muenzenmeyer, 66, of Marshalltown, passed away on Saturday, April 23, 2016 at his home surrounded by his family and under the care of the Iowa River Hospice Home.

Memorial services for Don will be held on Friday, April 29, 2016 at 3:00 p.m. at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown. Visitation will be one hour prior to service times. Memorials may be directed to the family for designation at a later date. Following the service, the family invites you to the Reunion Hall at Riverview Park to continue a celebration of life. Don Muenzenmeyer was born on February 13, 1950 in Ottumwa, Iowa to William Michael and Helen Marie Milligan Muenzenmeyer. On March 5, 1971, Don was united to Kathy Nelson in Eddyville, Iowa. Don had worked for Lennox Industries for 35 years and retired in 2008. Don enjoyed fishing, going on vacations and wood working. Don and Kathy had opened their hearts and home to numerous foster children throughout the years. Above everything else; Don truly cherished the time with his family.

Don is survived by his wife of 45 years, Kathy. Children: Melissa Muenzenmeyer of Marshalltown, Michelle (James) Fortner of Marietta, Georgia, Mareah (Jeff) Simpson of Newton, Colton Muenzenmeyer of Northfield, Minnesota and Isaac Muenzenmeyer of Marshalltown. Grandchildren: Brieanna and Tyler Simpson, Hannah Nelson, Emma Lauren Simpson and Emma Grace Nelson. Siblings: Donna (David) Oliphant of Cedar Rapids and Kay (Terry) Gill of Albion as well as numerous nieces, nephews and foster children.
