William A. "Bill" Lambert
Des Moines

William A. "Bill" Lambert was born in Newton, Iowa to Madeline and Guy Lambert 87 years ago. He passed away peacefully surrounded by his family. A graduate of Iowa State University with a degree in Dairy Science, he continued the family business, Lambert Dairy. After selling the business in 1985, he was a Dairy Consultant specializing in Ice Cream and Ice Cream Mixes locally and regionally, as well as an International Ice Cream & Dairy Consultant with Malcolm Stogo Associates.

In retirement, he served as a volunteer with the United States ACDI VOCA Volunteer program as one of the experienced professional consultants serving overseas and as a Consultant in the Farmer to Farmer Program with Winrock International Institute for Agricultural Development.

Bill touched many lives sharing his passion for his work, interests and hobbies through mentoring and teaching. He was known internationally for the toy jumping mice he made from napkins and invisible ball catching used to connect with and entertain children and adults. Bill was a member of Masonic Lodge #632 for over 50 years.

Bill is survived by wife of 65 years Sara Ann "Sally"; children Corinne Lambert, Sara Rosene (Rich), Julie Bright (Richard); grandchildren Matthew Rosene (Leticia), Michelle Jones (Cody), Nick Bright (Tasha), Casey Bright (Maggie), Dan Bright, Joe Bright; and great-grandchildren Windom, Adelyn, Mia, Tyler, Dakota, Jonny, Cole and Toby.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother David (Navy Aviator), sister Shirley Concannon and sister Louise Ziegler.

Celebration of Bill's life is planned for Saturday April 30, 2016 at 2:00 pm at First United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall, 1001 Pleasant Street in Des Moines.
