Mary Marshall, 78, of Monroe, died Friday, August 26, 1988 at Skiff Medical Center in Newton.
Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, August 30 at Monroe Garden Chapel Funeral Home. Elder Arthur Nichols of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, conducted the services. Burial was in Silent City Cemetery at Monroe.
Memorial contributions to Camp Sunnyside are being accepted.
Survivors are her husband, Orval; two sons, Leroy of Mingo and Eldon of Monroe; three daughters, Mrs. Wayne (Bonnie) Ryther of Newton, Mrs. Clifford (Patricia) Simbro of Newton and Mrs. Walter (Norma) Hannam of Indianola; 21 grandchildren; and 36 great-grandchildren.
Also surviving are two sisters, Effie Robison and Mrs. Joe (Margaret) Sille, both of Newton; two step-brothers, Tunis Vonk of Oskaloosa and Richard Vonk of Newton; and six step-sisters, Jennie Hoksbergen, Mrs. Peter (Minnie) Van Manen and Mrs. Cornie (Corrie) Terpstra, all of Sully, Jeannette Vonk and Mrs. John (Reno) Rozenboom, both of Oskaloosa, and Mrs. Anthony (Evelena) De Wege of Denver, Colorado.
She was preceded in death by her parents, step-father, Case Vonk, a son, Leland, a brother, Jay Vander Schel, a sister, Mrs. Joe (Cornelia) Stepka, two sisters in infancy and three grandchildren.
Mrs. Marshall was a charter member of the TMTM Club, a 4-H leader and a member of the Pythian Sisters.
She had been employed at PAG Seed and as a school bus driver.
The daughter of Andrew and Gertrude Huisman Vander Schel, she was born July 28, 1910 in the Prairie City area.
She was married to Orval Marshall November 24, 1926 in Pella.
