Marguerite graduated from the Tracy High School in Tracy, Iowa in 1943 and as a young girl in school her favorite subject was history and she loved to read. Marguerite was employed by the State of Iowa Department of Human Services (known formerly as Relief Office, Social Welfare, Social Services) in the Marion County Office for 30 years. She worked closely with the Director of the Department on various projects. Marguerite was active in the Business and Professional Women’s Club and in 1995 helped chair the committee that designed the BPW float for the Knoxville Centennial. Marguerite always had a love for animals and was involved in 4-H activities when she was a young girl. She had a fancy for all types of jewelry and had several sparkling diamonds. Marguerite was always the traveler. In 1993 she flew on British Airways Concorde to London, England. This was a “Trip of a Lifetime”. While in England Marguerite made a trip on the Orient express through Southern England. She also witnessed the Changing of the Guard at Buckingham Palace and viewed the Crown Jewels. She sailed home on the Queen Elizabeth 2.

In 2013 Marguerite became a resident at Griffin Nursing & Rehab Center in Knoxville and passed away on February 18, 2016, at West Ridge Specialty Care in Knoxville at the age of 90 years, 10 months and 14 days.

Marguerite is survived by two sisters-in-law: Mable (Kenneth) Knox of Newton, Iowa, Marilyn (Aaron) Knox of Knoxville; seven nieces and nephews (her children): Kathi (Steve) Owens, Kenny (Kathy) Knox, Karla Jorgenson, Kevin (Laurie) Knox, Debbie (John) Brees, Dianna (Toby) Richards, Dennis (Stephanie) Knox; and many great-nieces and great-nephews.
