Connie L. Barr, age 63 of Urbandale, died Friday, November 20, 2009 at Skiff Medical Center – Monarch Wing in Newton. Funeral services were held on Tuesday, November 24, 2009, at First Baptist Church in Monroe with burial following at Silent City Cemetery.
Memorials may be directed to Hospice of Jasper County or the Susan G. Komen Foundation for Breast Cancer Research and online condolences may be left for the family at www.coburnfuneralhomes.com.
The daughter of Lloyd Dale and Catherine (Ver Heul) Nolin, Connie was born on June 4, 1946, in rural Monroe. She graduated from Monroe High School and was a devoted mother to her four children. Connie was a Senior Membership Specialist at Wellmark Blue Cross Blue Shield in Des Moines for 28 years and cherished her friendships with coworkers. Connie loved her two cats, playing cards, and traveling. But she especially enjoyed the time spent with family, friends and her 14 grandchildren.
Survivors are her children, Shawn (Delana) Barr of Kansas City, Kimberly (Timothy) Beard of Monroe, Becky (Steve) Woody of Johnston and Jennifer (John) Kramer of Lynnville and fourteen grandchildren: Matthew, Eric, Sarina and Stephanie Barr; Tyler, Travis & Laura DeVault; Jamie Bryan; Trista and Connor Woody; Austin, Kyle, Corey, and Luke Kramer. Also surviving are two sisters, Janet Clark of Monroe and Eileen (Larry) Johnson of Newton; and a brother Jerry (Joan) Nolin of Altoona.
Preceding Connie in death were her parents.
