Tony L. Stevens, 50, of Newton died on Saturday, February 20, at Mercy Medical Center. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, February 25, at the Moose Lodge. The family will greet friends after the service with a lunch at the Moose. Memorials in Tony’s name may be left at the service or at the Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory.

Tony, the son of Dale L. and Rebecca (Hawkins) Stevens, was born on February 14, 1966 in Newton. He graduated in the class of 1984 from Newton High School. Tony lived most of his life in Newton except for two years that he was in Colorado. On April 19, 1997, Tony was united in marriage with Penny Petrie in Newton. Tony worked in the factory at Pella Corp and also enjoyed doing mechanical work on people’s cars. Tony was a loving husband, dad, grandpa, brother, son, uncle, and friend.

Those left to honor Tony’s memory are his wife, Penny of Newton; mother, Rebecca Shafer of Newton; his seven children, Samantha Sells of Colorado, Anthony (Candice) Stevens of Victor, Adam Petrie of Newton, Shawna Stevens of Colorado, Brandie Wood of Grinnell, Brandon Stevens of Newton, and Jeremy (Kristin) Stevens of Colfax; 16 grandchildren; his sister, Jennifer (Bob) Bruns of Colfax; sister-in-law, Mary Stevens of Newton; his brother at heart, Roger Good of Newton; ex-wife, Karen Wisecup of Colorado; and many nieces and nephews including a special nephew, Shawn Stevens of Newton.

He was preceded in death by his father, Dale Stevens; two brothers, Joe and Tim Stevens; and his maternal and paternal grandparents. ~ The Wallace Family Funeral Home, Newton, Iowa 20 Feb 2016.
