November 10, 1928 ~ February 20, 2016 (age 87)

Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Wednesday, February 24th at the Wallace Family Funeral Home in Newton and burial will be at Newton Union Cemetery in Newton.

The family will greet friends from 5-7 p.m., Tuesday, February 23rd at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials to the Legacy Circle of Life Hospice House in Bentonville, Arkansas. The family was thankful for the loving care the wonderful staff extended to Virginia in her final days. Memorials may be left at the funeral home. Memorials may also be mailed to the Wallace Family Funeral Home, please add Attn: Irish Family on the envelope.

Virginia V. Long Irish, 87 of Rogers, Arkansas; formerly of Newton died on Saturday, February 20, 2016 at the Circle of Life Hospice – Legacy Village in Bentonville, Arkansas.

Virginia the daughter of Coy and Lottie (Fortner) Long was born in Springfield, Missouri. She was a graduate of Springfield High School in Springfield.

On June 28, 1946, Virginia was united in marriage with Henry D. Irish in Springfield, Missouri. They were blessed with four children, Larry, Becky, Kathy and Cindy. They moved to Newton, Iowa in 1974. Virginia and Henry owned and operated Donutland in Newton from 1980-1990. She was a member of the Newton First Assembly of God Church in Newton. She loved being with her family. She also wanted to be at and a part of her church and that continued when she started going to church in Arkansas. She enjoyed crocheting and playing and winning table games. Virginia was a loving and devoted wife, mom, grandma, great-grandma, sister, aunt and friend.

Those left to cherish Virginia’s memory are her children, Larry Irish of Eldridge, Becky (Jeff) Wiltgen of Rogers, Arkansas, Kathy (Greg) Hartgraves of Mitchell, South Dakota and Cindy Irish (Lex Leksell) of Superior, Wisconsin; seven grandchildren, Matt (Andrea) Hartgraves of Seattle, Washington; Jeremy (Annie) Wasson of Frisco, Texas; Tony Wiltgen of Rogers, Arkansas; Emily Erlemeier (Chuck Doehr) of Eden Prairie, Minnesota; Chad Erlemeier of Glendale Heights, Illinois; Annie Hartgraves (Jeff Schulte) of Sioux Falls, South Dakota and Kimberly Wiltgen of Rogers, Arkansas; her great-grandson, Noah Schulte of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; sister, Helen Glotfelty (Harry) of Waterloo, Illinois; and her many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Henry in 2003; sister Betty Mack and brother Charles Long. ~ The Wallace Family Funeral Home, Newton, Iowa 20 Feb 2016.
