January 6, 1939 - February 13, 2016

Ms. Patricia Jean “Patt” Hackett, age 77 of Villa Rica, Georgia died Saturday, February 13, 2016.

Ms. Hackett was born in Cleveland, Ohio, on January 6, 1939, the daughter of the late David Lyle Dyas and Grace Louise McCall Dyas. She graduated from Newton High School in Newton, Iowa, and Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa and was a member of the First Christian Church in Newton, Iowa. Ms. Hackett worked as an administrative assistant with Maytag in Newton and Cedartown Foods in Carrollton.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Susan Hackett-Noori and Neema Noori of Carrollton; grandchildren, Georgia Grace Noori and James Hackett Noori; sisters and brother-in-law, Deanna and Everett Wood of Newton, Iowa, Nancy Barnes of Villa Rica, Georgia, Linda Healy of Mt. Zion, Georgia; niece and her husband, Chris and Anthony Eskew of Temple, Georgia; nephews, Mike Wood of Newton, Iowa and Chris Healy of San Francisco, California.

aBesides her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother-in-law, James W. Barnes.

Ms. Hackett worked tirelessly for numerous causes throughout her life. In Carrollton, she was a long-time volunteer for Tanner Hospice. She sat with patients for many years and enjoyed preparing numerous baked goods for and working at the annual food sale. Ms. Hackett was a devoted grandparent and spent a great deal of time at swim meets, soccer games, plays and school activities. She traveled widely and greeted each new experience with a sense of adventure. Ms. Hackett will be remembered for her wit, her generosity, and her tremendous sense of loyalty.

A private family memorial service will be held at a later date.
