Russell DeHaai, age 91 of Monroe, passed away on Friday, January 22, 2016, at Hospice of Pella Comfort House. Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 25, 2016, at 10:00 a.m. at the Monroe United Methodist Church. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery in Eddyville. Visitation will take place on Monday, from 9:00 - 10:00 a.m. at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in Russell's name to your favorite charity. The son of Cornelus and Ersa (Barr) DeHaai, Russell was born on July 10, 1924, in Marion County. He lived on the same century farm for 90 years. On February 3, 1952, he was united in marriage to Hazel Simmers at the Methodist parsonage in Prairie City. Russell farmed most of his life and also owned and operated DeHaai Manufacturing with his cousin Kermit.

Those left to honor his memory include his wife of 64 years, Hazel; a brother, Eugene (Elaine) DeHaai of Arizona and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a step son, Sam and a brother, Howard DeHaai. ~ The Coburn Funeral Home, Colfax, Iowa 22 Jan 2016.
