Mary Hariett Mattox

Mattox, Mary Hariett was 94 when she received the call from her Lord and Savior to come home on January 8, 2016. Mary was born in Grinnell, Iowa in 1921. She met her husband Duane (Matt) Mattox in Newton, Iowa and they were married on July 25, 1942 in Los Angeles, CA. Mary and her husband retired in Arizona. She moved to Wichita in 1997. She had many famous ancestors including Presidents Taft, Cleveland, and John Q. Adams, and was a cousin to Maj. Gen. John Sedgwick, the namesake of the county she last lived in. Mary loved and praised her Lord, and was a member of Parkview Baptist Church in Wichita. She was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Esta (Barnes) Germann; her sister, Jean (Germann) Price; her husband, Duane (Matt) Mattox, and her daughter, Michelle Teigland.

She is survived by her son, Michael (Matt) and wife, Noemi; granddaughters, Elizabeth (Mattox) Lambert, and Vicki Teigland; great-granddaughter, Madison; loving niece, Junella Skokan; and dear friend, Gertie. Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, January 13, 2016, at Parkview Baptist Church.
