James Shadden, Sr., 79, of Kellogg, Iowa, formerly of Humeston, Iowa and Springfield, Illinois, died on Thursday, December 3, 2015, at Park Centre Care Center in Newton. A graveside service will be held at the Humeston Cemetery at a later date. Memorials to Wesley Life Hospice may be left at the funeral home or mailed to the family. The Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory is handling the arrangements.

James, the son of John and Marie (Ghignet) Shadden, was born on April 18, 1936 in Springfield, Illinois. He grew up in Springfield and served his country in the U.S. Army. On July 29, 1983, James was united in marriage to Janice Palmer in Springfield. They made their home in Humeston. James worked for many years as a sign hanger, repairing and replacing commercial signs. James enjoyed being outdoors, especially hunting and fishing.

James is survived by his wife, Janice Shadden of Kellogg; two children, Debbie (Glen) Naugle of Springfield and James Shadden, Jr. of Springfield; his step-children, Annette (Robert) Tomlinson of Kansas City, Kansas, Lori (Patrick) Beyer of Denver, Colorado, and Jimmy (Katheryn) Shadden of Kellogg; his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and his brother, John (Chris) Shadden of Venus, Florida.
