SERVICES FRIDAY

C. Max Sparks, 59, of Sully died Wednesday at Grinnell General Hospital.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Friday at the Harden Funeral Home in New Sharon, with the Rev. Wayne Tripp officiating. Burial was at Woodland Cemetery in Lynnville.

The son of Clifford and Sarah Maude Holmes Sparks, he was born Sept. 1, 1916. He was married to Leah Peery Sept. 24, 1937.

Mr. Sparks was maintenance supervisor for the Riverview Release Center in Newton. A veteran of World War II, he was a member of the American Legion. He was also a member of Lebanon Lodge, A.F. & A.M.

Survivors include his wife, Leah; one son, Craig, at the family home; two sisters, Mrs. Lowell(Freda) Fleener of Ottumwa and Mrs. Jack (Nadine) Pierce of San Diego, Calif.; and a brother, Samuel Sparks of Des Moines.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Wendell Sparks.
