Earl Brubaker Rites Scheduled; Set for Thursday

PRAIRIE CITY - Funeral services for Earl Brubaker, 89, of Prairie City, operator of an implement business in Prairie City from 1913 until 1970, will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Church of the Brethren, south of Prairie City.

The Rev. Kent Welch will conduct services. Burial will be in the Waveland Cemetery at Prairie City.

Walters-Coburn Funeral Home in Prairie City is handling arrangements.

Survivors are six son, Price of Prairie City, Carl of Ventura, Calif., Leo of Prairie City, Merlin of Bettendorf, Doyle of Newton and Marvin of Des Moines; a daughter, Mrs. Opal Goodrich of Madrid; 11 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Also surviving are a sister, Mrs. Earl (Lova) Deardorff of Panora; and two brothers, J. A. Brubaker of West Des Moines and D. L. Brubaker of Des Moines.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife in 1976, three children and two sisters.

Mr. Brubaker was a member of the Church of the Brethren, for which he served as a deacon, was a charter member of the Prairie City Lions Club and was past president of the Farm Implement Dealers and had served on the Prairie City school board and the Jasper County board of education.

The son of Isaac and Rebecca Flora Brubaker, he was born Feb. 11, 1888 at LaPlace, Ill.

He was married to Mary Susan Buckingham Sept. 22, 1910 at Prairie City. ~ Newspaper unknown, possibly The Newton Daily News, Newton, Iowa wed 26 Apr 1978.
