Ernest Hartnett Dies Saturday; Services Tuesday

COLFAX - Ernest Hartnett, 77, a resident of Colfax since 1975, died Saturday at the Clear View Manor in Prairie City.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Walters-Coburn Funeral Home in Colfax.

The Rev. Omer Wolterting, pastor of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Colfax, will conduct services. Burial will be in the McKeever Cemetery, north of Colfax.

Survivors are his wife, Mary; two daughters, Mrs. Vern (Mary Ruth) Hanna and Mrs. Robert (Jean) Hagge, both of Colfax; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a brother, Sam M. of Albuquerque, N.M.; and a sister, Mrs. Ralph (Ellen) Digno of Santa Fe, N.M.

Mr. Hartnett, an engineer with the Union Pacific Railroad, was a member of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and Fireman.

The son of Sam and Ellen Oswalt Hartnett, he was born Dec. 7, 1900 near Colfax.

He was married to Mary Wheeler Sept. 17, 1922 at Colfax.

Mr. Hartnett resided in Wyoming for 30 years. ~ Newspaper unknown, possibly The Newton Daily News, Newton, Iowa Mon 6 Mar 1978.
