Ruth Blatterbauer Dies on Tuesday; Service Friday

Ruth Agatha Blatterbauer, 68, a lifelong resident of Newton and resident of Heritage Manor Care Center, died Tuesday at Skiff Memorial Hospital.

A Christian wake service will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday at Johnson Reese Chapel.

A mass of requiem will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

The Rev. Joseph B. Denning, pastor of the church, will officiate.

Burial will be in the Newton Union Cemetery.

Friends may call after 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Memorials to Heritage Manor Activity Fund have been established in her name.

Survivors are two brothers, John and Carl Blatterbauer, both of Newton, and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother.

Miss Blatterbauer was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church and the Royal Neighbors Lodge.

An employee of the United Telephone Co. of Iowa for more than 20 years, she retired about seven years ago.

The daughter of Kasper and Marie Blatterbauer, she was born Dec. 3, 1909 at Newton and was educated in Newton Schools. ~ Newspaper unknown, possibly The Newton Daily News, Newton, Iowa Wed 1 Mar 1978.
