Joyce E. Tharp, Former Newton Resident Dies
Joyce E. Tharp, 29, of 107 – 21st St., Marion, a former resident of Newton, died Saturday at Cedar Rapids.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Murdock Chapel in Marion.
The Rev. Glen W. Lamb, pastor of the Marion First United Methodist Church will conduct services. Burial will be in the Oak Shade Cemetery in Marion.
Friends may call at the Murdoch Chapel in Marion after 1:30 p.m. today.
The casket will not be opened at any time.
A memorial in Mrs. Tharp’s name will be accepted.
Survivors are her husband; two sons, Brian Scott, 8, and Michael Todd, 5, both at home: her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Robert J. Finn of Newton; two sisters, Joanne Finn of Newton and Mrs. Andrew (Judith) Meese of Florence, KY: a brother, James D. Finn of St. Joseph, Mo; and her grandparents, Mrs. Kate Van Baren and Mr. and Mrs. Howard Finn, all of Newton.
The daughter of Robert J. and M. Margaret Van Baren Finn, she was born Oct. 22, 1950 in Newton and was graduated from Newton Community High School.
She was married to Perry I. Tharp Jan. 10, 1969 in Newton.
Mrs. Tharp, an employee of Collins Radio for the past five years, was a member of the Mt. Zion United Methodist Church near Newton.
