Raymond E. Warnke, 83, of Maynard, Iowa, died Thursday morning, October 15, 2015 at Maple Crest Manor in Fayette, Iowa.

Celebration of Life Visitation: 1:00 to 4:00 P.M. Saturday, October 17, 2015 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Maynard. Inurnment: At a later date in Long Grove Cemetery, Maynard.

Raymond Earl Warnke was born December 21, 1931 in rural Sumner, Iowa the son of Carl and Clara (Mohlis) Warnke. On July 14, 1952, he was united in marriage to Marjorie Jean Mayo at St. John Lutheran Church in Sumner. He proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean War. Ray was employed at the Maynard Coop in Maynard and as branch manager in Sumner and retired in 1994 after 34 ½ years. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Maynard and the Lundbye-Carpenter American Legion Post #245 of Maynard and a former member of the Maynard Fire Department. Ray enjoyed fishing, playing cards, dancing, going to the casino and spending time with his grandchildren.

Ray is survived by his wife: Marjorie Warnke of Maynard; 6 children: Kathleen (Steve) Arnold of Pomona, Kansas, Rodney (Jane) Warnke of Newton, Russell (Lori) Warnke of Grimes, Kevin Warnke of Maynard, Sherry (Dean) Nieland of McGregor and Steve (Lori) Warnke of Maynard; 13 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; 2 sisters-in-law: Helen Warnke of Oelwein and Vera Warnke of Huron, South Dakota and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; grandson: Judd Nieland; 4 sisters: Margaret Seehase, Doretta Seehase, Mildred Judisch and Verona Pries; and 3 brothers: Clarence Warnke, Lester Warnke and Leo Warnke. ~ The Jamison-Schmitz Funeral Home, Oelwein, Iowa, 15 OCt 2015.
