June 21, 1931 - October 1, 2015

Arnold Lee "Red" Stier, age 84 of Colfax, passed away on Thursday, October 1, 2015 at Newton Health Care in Newton, Iowa. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, October 6, 2015, at 10:30 a.m. at Coburn Funeral Home in Colfax, with burial following at Greencastle Cemetery. Visitation will take place on Monday, October 5, 2015, from 2:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Coburn Funeral Home in Colfax.

The family will greet friends from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Memorials may be directed to the family and condolences may be left for the family at www.coburnfuneralhomes.com.

The son of Leorn and Marie (Purnell) Stier, Red was born on June 21, 1931, in Rhodes, Iowa. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War. On September 28, 1957, he was united in marriage to Lola Ann Kane in Mingo. Red worked at John Deere for 29 years retiring in 1987. He loved to travel with Lola. Every year they would visit her sister in Los Angeles, California. He also loved to hunt and fish.

Those left to honor his memory include a step son, Larry Mitchell of Des Moines; a step grandson, Corey; two sisters and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife in 2001, a sister, and two brothers. ~ The Coburn Funeral Home, Colfax, Iowa 1 Oct 2015
