LIFE OF MRS. FRANKLIN ROHRER
Mrs. Franklin Rohrer of Franklin Station, who passed away at her home August 8, 1932, was born July 2, 1858, Corilla Amie daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wesley Wood. She had attained the age of 74 years, 1 month and 6 days. She suffered a stroke nearly five years ago, and ever since that has been in failing health. Taking seriously ill Friday evening, August 5, she lingered until death came at three o'clock Monday August 8.
Miss Wood spent her girlhood in the Tool's Chapel neighborhood and on April 17, 1875 was united in marriage to Charles Tool. To this union, three children were born; Yula May, Elmer and Marvin. Mrs. Tool was a true mother. As all true mothers do, she had great ambitions for her children. Being a lover of music, she gave of her time and means for their accomplishment. Her happiest moments were those in which her children were gathered about the piano, playing and singing. Mrs. Rohrer’s talent for singing, she always gave freely to her church, which she and her family attended regularly.
In her early life, her church membership was in Tool's Chapel. Later she placed her membership in the Christian church.
Leaving the farm, she and the family moved to Bondurant, where they were in charge of the telephone office for a number of years. It was in Bondurant, that Mr. Tool passed away and later when they had made their home at Monroe, that Mrs. Tool lost her daughter, Yula May.
Nearly ten years ago, Mrs. Tool again took martial vows with Mr. William Rohrer, whose home was near Angus. Later they moved back to the farm home at Franklin Station here she spent her recent years, and passed on.
Funeral services were held at Tool's Chapel Methodist Episcopal church Wednesday afternoon, Aug. 10, at two o'clock, conducted by Rev. Herman U. Smith of the Reasnor charge. Pallbearers were her nephews; Alvin, George and Clarence Tool, Loyd, Dale and Clarence Wood. Burial in Monroe cemetery. Musical numbers for the services including "Abide with Me." "Sometime We'll Understand," and "In That City," were presented by Mr. and Mrs. Neal McKee, Mrs. Flossie Woody, Miss Helen Fennema and Mr. Chris Vander Pol, with Mrs. Celia Lust accompanist.
Those who will most miss this good woman are her husband, Mr. Rohrer; two sons; Elmer Tool, Prince Albert, Sask., Canada and Marvin Tool of Newton, seven grandchildren; May, Lillian and Howard Tool of Prince Albert, Sask., Canada; and Wayne, Clifton, Herwehe and Beverly Tool of Newton; four sisters, Mrs. Bertha Reese, Hillyard Station, Spokane, Wash.; Mrs. Orena Reese, Des Moines, Mrs. Mollie Porter, Mrs. Lucinda Berkenboch, Monroe; and three brothers, Edmond Wood, Newton; Eli Wood, Reasnor and John of Monroe. Two sisters, Mrs. Rebecca E. Tool and Nancy Wood and a brother, Reese Wood, preceded her in death.
