Suzanne Marie Wedeking, 59, of Newton died on Monday, August 24, 2015, at Skiff Medical Center. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, August 29, at the Wallace Family Funeral Home. The family will greet friends from 5-7 p.m., Friday, August 28, at the funeral home. Memorials in Suzanne’s name may be left during the services.

Suzanne, the daughter of John Richard and Lillian (Tolle) Frakes, was born on February 13, 1956 in Riverside, California. Suzanne was part of a military family that lived in many locations throughout her life although most of her childhood was spent in Riverside and then later in Nashua, Iowa where she graduated from high school.

On June 1, 1974, Suzanne was united in marriage with Eugene Wedeking at the Chickasaw Park in Ionia, Iowa. After their marriage they made their home in Grinnell, Iowa. In 1976, Suzanne was baptized into the Christian Congregation of Jehovah Witnesses and was active through the years in teaching the Bible to others. Gene and Suzanne moved to Newton, Iowa fourteen years ago, where Suzanne was an administrative assistant at Skiff Medical Center. Suzanne enjoyed flower gardening, decorating, and playing tennis. She also loved to roller skate and usually had a pair of roller skates in her car.

Those left to honor Suzanne’s memory are her husband, Gene Wedeking of Newton; two daughters, Daphne (Shane) Peckham of Newton and Melissa (Kenny) Burton of Aurora, Colorado; four granddaughters, Madilyn, Georgia, Ava, and Lilly; her mother, Lillian Swain of Newton; siblings, Ranee Litterer of Vail, Colorado, Tim (Sandy) Tyler of Charles City, Iowa, Vivian Tyler of Charles City, Linda (Mike) Knowler of Newton, Lewis Hunt of Nashua, Iowa, John Frakes of Ankeny, Iowa, Jeri Frakes of San Jose, California, and James Frakes of Manhattan Beach, California.

She was preceded in death by her father, John Richard Frakes; a daughter, Adalissa Wedeking; granddaughter, Olivia Burton; and Russell Swain. ~ The Wallace Family Funeral Home, Newton, Iowa 24 Aug 2015.
