Linda Kay Otto, 67, of Newton, passed away peacefully after a battle with ALS Wednesday, Aug. 19, 2015, at Agrace Hospice Care in Fitchburg, Wis. A funeral service will be at 3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 22 at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. A visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 21 at Cedar Memorial Funeral Home. Burial will be at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.

Survivors include her three children, Jon (Marsha) Otto of Cedar Rapids, Chris Otto of Cedar Rapids and Jennifer (Adam Prestbroten) Otto of Middleton, Wis.; four grandchildren, Jared, Rylee, Tristan and Jonah.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Morris and Avis Kreager; and brother, David Kreager.

Linda was born Dec. 19, 1947, in Kansas City, Mo., and was adopted by Morris and Avis (Polhamus) Kreager of Newton. She was confirmed at Zoar Church in Newton, in 1962, and loved her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. For several years, Linda worked in the nursing field, before becoming a director of nursing. She eventually went on to teach college courses in nursing. Linda was an avid Hawkeye fan and attended many games at Kinnick Stadium. In her spare time, she enjoyed reading and learning new things. Linda had a big heart when it came to animals, and, especially, her pets. She also had a great eye for antiques, and could spend hours shopping around flea markets with her daughter. Her greatest passion in life was children. Linda loved being a mother and grandmother. Her graceful soul and gentle heart is what made her excellent at motherhood. More than anything, she loved being with her family.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family, Cedar Valley Humane Society or Trinity United Methodist Church in Cedar Rapids, in Linda’s memory.
