Thomas E. Robertson, 68, of Newton died Tuesday, Sept. 30, at Skiff Medical Center in Newton.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 1:30 p.m. at the Smith Funeral Home in Grinnell with the Rev. Danny Hodges, pastor of the Community Heights Alliance Church of Newton, officiating. Burial will be at IOOF Cemetery in Searsboro.
Friends may call Thursday after 3 p.m. at the funeral home where the family will be available from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorials will be accepted to the Foursquare church of Newton or to Jasper County Hospice.
The son of Harry and Blanche (Weise) Robertson, he was born July 2, 1935, in Malcom. He was raised in Malcom and graduated from Malcom High School in 1953. Following his education, he served in the United States Army. On Dec. 28, 1959, he married Janice L. Watson in Kirksville, Mo. The couple lived in Newton and he worked in the paint department of Plant 2, Maytag. He retired in 1989.
Mr. Robertson was a member of the United Auto Workers Union No. 997 and he attended the Newton Foursquare Church.
Survivors include his wife; his mother of Malcom; a brother, Jim Robertson of Malcom; and two sisters, Patty Sherratt of Minnesota and Barbara Brown of Malcom.
