Dorris V. SnookCENTERVILLE - Dorris V. Snook, 83, of Centerville, formerly of Newton, died Thursday, Nov. 13, at Covenant Medical Center in Waterloo.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at the Wallace Family Funeral Home in Newton with Dr. Marvin Potter of Newton officiating. Burial will be at Palo Alto Cemetery in rural Newton.
Friends may call from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home where the family will be available. Memorials will be acceptd to the American Diabetes Association and may be left at the funeral home.
The daughter of Lewis and Nellie (Burt) Lewison, she was born Aug. 19, 1920, in Des Moines. She was a graduate of Baxter High School in 1938. On Sep. 14, 1945, she married Donald G. Snook. She lived in Newton until 1995. She was a credit manager for Medical Associates in Newton and rtired in 1986. She was a member of the United Presbyterian Church in Newton and a volunteer with Hospice of Jasper County. She enjoyed taking care of others.
Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, David and Marcia Snook of LaPorte City and Mark and Julie Snook of Locust Grove, Ga.; a daughter, Nancy Covington of Centerville; eight grandchildren; and a brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Helen Lewison of Gainesville, Fla.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a brother, M. R. "Bob" Lewison; and a sister, Georganna Redfeldt. ~ The Newton Daily News, Newton, Iowa Mon 17 Nov 2003.
