Lonnie, the son of Carl and Clorena (Morgan) Martin, Sr., was born March 4, 1956, in Des Moines, Iowa. He graduated from Newton High School in 1974. He was united in marriage with Sharon Kay Wells on August 13, 1986, in Poplar Bluff, Missouri.

He had worked different construction jobs over the years, and had currently been the co-owner of Dynasty Cab Company. Lonnie was a jack-of-all-trades and enjoyed carpentry, woodworking, and etching mirrors. He also enjoyed bowling and watched every professional wrestling show he could, on as many TV’s as he could. Most important to Lonnie was spending time with his grandchildren, whom he would do anything for. They were the love of his life.

Those left to honor Lonnie’s memory are his wife, Kay of Newton; children: Chad (Rhonda) Hoffman of Newton, Christina Hoffman of Newton, Michelle Martin of Des Moines, Steven (Stephanie) Wells of St. Cloud, MN, Ricky (Elizabeth) Wells of Monroe, Phillip (Danette) Wells of Newton, Robert Davis of Newton, and several others who were like adopted children to Lonnie; several grandchildren; one great-grandchild; his siblings: Patty Bollinger of Des Moines, Lillie (Kevin) Noland of Des Moines, and LeWonda Carolus of Newton; and many friends.

Lonnie was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Donald Martin, Ronald Martin, and Carl Martin, Jr.

Memorials in Lonnie’s name may be left at the funeral home or at the Elks Lodge during the Celebration of Life.

If you would like to share your thoughts and memories, we will deliver your message to the family. ~ The Wallace Family Funeral Home, Newton, Iowa 29 July 2015.
