Lorraine E. Ross, 94, of Williford, Arkansas died July 18, 2015 at St. Bernard's Hospital in Jonesboro, Arkansas. Born August 23, 1920 to C. Edward and Jessie Mickle Ross and raised near Newton, Iowa, Miss Ross graduated from Newton High School and went on to attend Mercy Hospital School of Nursing in Des Moines.

Following graduation from Mercy, she along with her nine classmates, entered the United States Army Nurse Corp. She served during World War II in Europe achieving the rank of First Lieutenant. Upon returning from the war, she received a degree in music from Duchesne College in Omaha. She then settled in Chicago where she practiced as a private duty nurse and pursued her musical interests.

She retired in Williford, Arkansas.

A devout Roman Catholic, Miss Ross was active in the various parishes she attended, most recently St. Michael's Church in Cherokee Village, Arkansas.

She is survived by three brothers Tom Ross of Marshalltown, Pat (Elsie) Ross of Bondurant, Bill (Kay) Ross of Bondurant and many nieces and nephews.

She is predeceased by her parents, her sister and brother-in-law Mary and Mick O'Mara, and her sister-in-law Mary Kersey Ross.

Her body has been donated to medical research.
