Jennie M. Koger, Former Resident, Dies at Grinnell

Mrs. Calvin A. (Jennie M.) Koger, 93, of Grinnell, a former resident of Jasper County, died Wednesday evening at the St. Francis Manor in Grinnell.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Smith East Side Manor in Grinnell.

Elder Vernon Hopkins, pastor of the Mount Pleasant Primitive Baptist Church, will conduct services. Burial will be in the Rock Creek Cemetery.

Memorial contributions to the Mount Pleasant Primitive Baptist Church will be accepted. Memorials may be left at the Smith Funeral Home.

Survivors are two sons, Murray E. of Deming, N. M. and Burton C. of rural Grinnell; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and five sisters, Mrs. Lee Edith Koger and Mrs. Eugene Marshall, both of Newton, Mrs. Lloyd (Jessie) Wells of Brooklyn, and Mrs. Otto (Esther) Ziegenmeyer and Mrs. Harry (Lois) Carter, both of Grinnell.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a granddaughter and three sisters.

Mrs. Koger was a member of the Mount Pleasant Primitive Baptist Church.

The daughter of Maxwell and Matilda Paul Mc Cosh, she was born Dec. 28, 1884 in Hickory Grove Township and had resided on farms in the Kellogg and Newburg communities.

She had resided in Grinnell since 1927. ~ The Newton Daily News, Newton, Iowa Fri 29 Sept 1978.
