W. A. Hardenbrook Dies on Sunday; Rites Wednesday

Walter A. Hardenbrook, 62, of 27-C, GM Villa, died Sunday afternoon at Skiff Memorial Hospital.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Wallace Funeral Home.

The Rev. Paul Akin, pastor of the St. Luke United Methodist Church, will conduct services. Burial will be in Sugar Grove Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home after 5 p.m. Today.

Survivors are his wife, Bonnie; five daughters, Met Shields of Burlington; Rosa Lee Shaw of Shreveport, La., Mrs. LeRoy (Shirley) Rinehart of Newton, Mrs. Mike (Bonne) Clark of Newton and Mrs. Larry (Connie) Davis of Oskaloosa; and two step-sons, Jerry and Roger Etter, both of Newton.

Also surviving are six brothers, Cleo of Colfax, Lester, Dan, Elvin and Paul, all of Newton, and Edward of Altoona; a sister, Mrs. Daniel C. (Lela) Murphy of Newton; and 19 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Mr. Hardenbrook was a member of St. Luke United Methodist Church and the Moose lodge.

The son of Evan and Meta Bunse Hardenbrook, he was born Aug. 16, 1916 in the Metz Community and was a graduate of Newton Community High School.

He was married to Bonnie Sidert July 1, 1951 at Confidence.

Mr. Hardenbrook retired from the Maytag Co., in August of this year. ~ The Newton Daily News, Newton, Iowa Mon 11 Sept 1978.
