Helen Eva Moore, 103, of Ottumwa, died at 7:46 p.m. July 20, 2015 at the Good Samaritan Society-Ottumwa.

She was born June 18, 1912, in Avery to Charles W. and Effie Eloral Pyle Stewart. She married Galen E. Moore Jan. 27, 1945. He preceded her in death April 21, 2001.

A graduate of Colfax High School and Ottumwa Beauty Academy, Helen was a hairdresser in Ottumwa for 29 years. She had worked for six years for an advertising novelty company in Newton before moving to Ottumwa.

She was a member of Willard St. United Methodist Church, Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie #114 Auxiliary, Walter B. Schafer Post #775 Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary and O.B. Nelson Unit #3 American Legion Auxiliary. Helen was a life master duplicate bridge player.

Surviving are two sons, Craig Moore and Brad (Connie) Moore, both of Ottumwa; six grandchildren, Jill (Paul) Miller, Todd (Kim) Moore, Ellen Moore, Susan Moore, Barry (Dani) Moore and Brandie (Brian) McWilliams; and eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles and Artie Stewart; and two sisters, Grace Thomas and Delores Kuhrt.

A funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Reece Funeral Home in Ottumwa with Pastor Leila Disburg officiating. Burial will be in the Colfax Cemetery.

Visitation begins at 11 a.m. Thursday with the family present from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday.
