Sheryl Rinehart, 70, passed away on Sunday, July 5, 2015 at her home in Ankeny. A visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, July 8 at the Ankeny Funeral Home, 1510 W. First St., Ankeny, Iowa 50023. Funeral Services will be at 10 a.m. on Thursday, July 9 at the Ankeny Funeral Home. Burial will take place at noon, Thursday, July 9 in the Union Cemetery in Newton.

Sheryl was born Oct. 2, 1944, in Newton to Howard and Nadine (Hughes) Hammer. Sheryl graduated from Newton High School in 1963, where she met the love of her life Charles Rinehart; they were united in marriage on April 24, 1961, and were blessed with three daughters.

Sheryl continued her education at AIB in Des Moines, where she received her Associates Degree. Following graduation, Sheryl was employed by Diamond Laboratories. She worked babysitting while raising her girls, and when the girls were all in school, she worked for the State of Iowa as a secretary for the Department of Education, retiring in 2007 after 26 years.

Sheryl loved to roller skate, and show off her 1934 Dodge Street Rod. She enjoyed gardening, and playing with her dogs Rascal and Chewy, but her greatest joy was spending time with her grandkids.

Sheryl will be missed by her daughters; Lynette Stowe of Bondurant, Christine (Robert) McGuire of Ankeny , Julie (Chad) Fleener of Slater, grandchildren; Cassandra and Katelyn Stowe, Emily, Alyson, and Megan McGuire, Riley and Corey Fleener, sister; Bonnie Logue of Newton, step sister; Tamara Zink of Newton, and half sister; Jean Vos of Pella, brothers and sisters-in-law; LeRoy (Shirley) Rinehart of Newton, Lynn (Nancy) Rinehart of Newton, and LaVonne Herndon of Osceola.

She is preceded in death by her husband; Charles Rinehart, mother; Nadine White, father; Howard Hammer, step-father; Leonard White Jr., brother; Steve White, sister; Linda Hammer, half-sister; Debbie Slycord, mother-in-law; Marjorie Rinehart, father-in-law; James Rinehart, sister-in-law; Connie (Rinehart) Beaderstadt, brother-in-law; Doyle Logue, nephews; Troy Herndon, and Shannon Logue.
