Ida Alice Curry Dies Tuesday Night; Services Thursday

Mrs. Clarence (Ida Alice) Curry, 83, of 1209 First Ave W., a resident of Newton since 1951, died Tuesday evening at Shaw's Rest Haven.

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Thursday at the Toland Funeral Home.

The Rev. Ray Barnett, minister of the First Christian Church will conduct the services. Burial will be in Newton Union Cemetery.

Mrs. Curry will lie in state at the Toland Funeral Home where friends may call after 7 p.m. today.

Survivors are a son, Kenneth of Iowa City; two daughters, Mrs. Forest (Florence) Jarnagin of Newton and Mrs. Truman (Faye) Smith of Minneapolis, Minn.; eight grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren and a half brother, Harold Fleming of Bondurant.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence, in 1952; a son, Elmo in 1964; and a granddaughter.

Mrs. Curry was a member of the First Christian Church.

The daughter of James and Angeline Calloway Fleming, she was born July 10, 1883 at Vandalia, Iowa.

She was married to Clarence Curry Oct. 2, 1901 at Des Moines.

Mrs. Curry resided in Prairie City and Mitchellville before moving to Newton. ~ The Newton Daily news, Newton, Iowa, Wed 8 Feb 1967.
