Blanche Thatcher, 90, of Newton died of a heart ailment Monday at Nelson Manor Nursing Home. Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Wallace-Pence Funeral Home, with burial at Newton Union Cemetery.

Mrs. Thatcher was born in Indiana and lived in Newton since 1927. She was a homemaker and member of Gold Star Mothers and the American Legion Auxiliary.

Surviving are two daughters, Patricia Hybl of Newton and Jayne Cylmer of Colfax; eight grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Friends may call after 4 p.m. today at the funeral home, where the family will be present from 7 to 8 p.m. ~ The Newton Daily News, Newton, Iowa Wed 30 July 1997.
