BOWMAN, Carol Beth Vander Meulen, passed away June 19, 2015, at age 82.

Carol was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Wally Bowman.

Carol is survived by her son, Randall Bowman of Alexandria, Virginia; daughter, Linda Bowman Moak of Beaverton, Oregon; granddaughter, Lindsey Addis and great-grandson, Chaysten Addis of New London, Connecticut; grandson, Brandon Moak and great-grandsons, Sawyer and Asher Moak of Beaverton, Oregon; and sister, Jean Flora of Tigard, Oregon.

Carol was born on October 4, 1932 in Marshalltown, Iowa. During Carol's early childhood years, she lived on her grandparent's Iowa farm, in Rock Island, Illinois and in Newton, Iowa. She moved to Oregon as a teenager, where she later married Wally and raised a family.

In 1967, Carol and family moved to Richmond, Virginia, where she has lived for the past five decades. During her long career, Carol worked in numerous fields. Her most fulfilling roles were at First Baptist Church, where she served as church librarian, and coordinated many weddings and funerals over the years and later, at the Chippokes Foundation, where for nearly two decades she worked closely with the Director in planning and coordinating numerous events at the Chippokes Plantation.

Services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, June 27, in the Chapel of First Baptist Church, 2709 Monument Ave., with a reception immediately following the service. Interment in Hollywood Cemetery will follow the reception.
