MONROE - Funeral services for Ruby Edith Hawkins Ver Heul, 78, of Monroe, a lifelong resident of the Monroe, Prairie City and Runnells areas, will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 7, at the Monroe Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

Elder Arthur Nichols of Knoxville, assisted by the Rev. Dave Childers of Cedar Rapids, will conduct services.

Burial will be in Silent City Cemetery in Monroe. Family visitation will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. today at Walters-Coburn Funeral Home in Monroe. Memorials to Hospice of Marion County may be left at the funeral home.

Mrs. Ver Heul died Tuesday at the Griffin Nursing Home in Knoxville.

Survivors are two sons, Marvin C. of Pella and Benny Keith of Monroe; a sister, Pearl Ver Dught of Monroe; 10 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Jasper Keith, four brothers, Berl, Earl, Jason and Glen, and a sister, Mary Miller.

The daughter of John Barton and Cora Day Hawkins, she was born Aug. 26, 1913 near Runnells.

She was married to Jasper Keith Ver Heul in 1935. ~ The Newton Daily News, Newton, Iowa Wed 6 Feb 1991
