Robert E. Stine

Robert E. Stine, 65, a lifelong resident of the Monroe area, died Sunday, March 22, at the Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Monroe United Methodist Church.

The Rev. Gerald McGee, pastor of the church, will conduct services. Burial will be in the Silent City Cemetery in Monroe. Graveside rites will be conducted by the Fred Slayden Post of the American Legion of Monroe.

Friends may call at the Walters-Coburn Funeral Home in Monroe after 9 a.m. Tuesday. Visitation with the family will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Survivors are his wife, Patricia, and three sisters, Lula Olivier of Cottonwood, Ariz. and Frances Smith and Ruth Cochran, both of Phoenix, Ariz.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Ardelle Nearmyer.

Mr. Stine was a member of the Fred Slayden Post of the American Legion and the Eighth Air Force Club.

A retired employee of PAG in Monroe, he had served in the Eighth Air Force during World War II, during which time he had received six bronze stars.

The son of Elsworth and Flossie Wilson Stone, he was born Nov. 24, 1921 in Reasoner and was a 1941 graduate of Monroe Community High School.

He was married to Patricia Daily Aug 7, 1955 in Monroe
