Myrtle Emma (Loupee) Thompson Campbell, 95, of Newton died on Thursday, Oct. 17, 2013, at her home at Park Centre.
A service will be at 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 21, at the Wallace Family Funeral Home in Newton with the family present from 1 p.m. until the time of service. Memorials to the Salvation Army may be left at the funeral home.
Myrtle, the daughter of George and Ella (Griebel) Loupee, was born on June 18, 1918, in rural Newton. She graduated from Newton High School in 1936. Myrtle was a rural school teacher. She was united in marriage with Chester A. Thompson on September 21, 1940, in Milan, Mo. Together they resided and farmed in rural Jasper County. They were blessed with four children: Julia, Jerald, Dennis, and Donna. Following Chester’s death in 1978, Myrtle married Dale Campbell on Sept. 2, 1989, in Newton. They lived on a farm in rural Gilman until moving to Newton in 1995. Myrtle was a member of a neighborhood and homemaker’s club. She also enjoyed playing Bingo.
Those left to honor Myrtle’s memory are her daughters, Julia (Larry) Allspach of Bevier, Mo., and Donna (Larry) Harger of Newton; sons, Jerald (Clarice) Thompson of Newton and Dennis (Judy) Thompson of Cincinnati, Ohio; her 11 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; her sister, Maxine Deppe of Marshalltown; step-children, Jackie, Larry (Barbara), Tom (Judy), and Dennis Campbell and Judy (LaVerne) Olney; her many step-grandchildren, step-great-grandchildren and step-great-great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Minerva Millard of Marshalltown; and her many nieces, nephews, cousins and good friends at Park Centre.
She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Chester Thompson on Jan. 16, 1978; second husband, Dale Campbell on April 29, 2010; two brothers, George Jr. and Robert Loupee; three sisters-in-law, Shirley, Velma and June Loupee; and brother-in-law, Lauren Deppe.
