Roy A. Doane, 81, of 808 W. 3rd St. S., a longtime Kellogg and Newton resident, died Saturday, Feb. 2, at the Skiff Medical Center of a respiratory ailment.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 5, at Wallace-Pence Funeral Home.

The Rev. Jerry Brown, senior pastor of the First United Methodist Church, will conduct services. Burial will be in Newton Union Cemetery.

Memorials to the First United Methodist Church will be accepted.

Visitation with the family will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Survivors are his wife, Eloise E.; two sons, Richard L. of San Diego, Calif., and William A. of Flagstaff, Ariz.; a daughter, Nancy A. (Mrs. William) Wood of Tulsa, Okla.; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Also surviving are three brothers, Clarence of Davenport, Gerald of Newton and Donald of Sunrise Beach, Mo.; and a sister, Mildred Owens of Bremerton, Wash.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Mr. Doane, a charter member of the Maytag Management Club and life member of the BPOE, Newton Lodge 1270, was an Army veteran.

He had worked at the Rock Island Arsenal for four years and had been a tool grinding supervisor at the Maytag Co., for 37 years, retiring in 1975.

The son of Arthur and Hazel Breece Doane, he was born Feb. 1, 1910 in Kellogg.

He was married to Eloise Janeway Sept. 15, 1934 in Moline, Ill.

Mr. Doane had resided in Davenport for four years. ~ The Newton Daily News, Newton, Iowa Mon 4 Feb 1991.
