C HESAPEAKELyle Delane Hoy, 74, of Treemont Court, died suddenly May 24, 2011.
He was predeceased by his father, Elmer L. Hoy and his first wife, Phyllis C. Hoy.
He was retired from the U.S. Navy as master chief as well as from Fleet Technical Support Center at the Naval Base, Norfolk.
Survivors include his wife, Catherine (Kitty) Hoy; his mother, Clara Pike Hoy of Colfax, Iowa; a son, David E. Hoy and wife Christel of Suffolk; a daughter, Vivian J. Cottingham and husband Jim of Chesapeake; two sisters, Lila Main and Connie Carlyle, both of Colfax; six grandchildren, Sandra Whitten and husband Manny, James Cottingham II, Eileen Cottingham, Victoria Cottingham, Orion Hoy and Collin Hoy; and three great-grandchildren, Alex, Austin and Justice. He also had stepchildren, who thought of him like a father, Rachel Ann Perry and husband Mark, Jimmie R. Stanton Jr. and wife Deanna, Arlene P. Sumner and husband John and Duane D. Stanton and wife Lori; plus numerous stepgrandchildren and great-grandchildren.
His funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 28, at Deep Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. Ernest Myers officiating.
