Joyce Ohrtman, 70, passed away Friday, June 8, 2012 at Mill-Pond in Ankeny. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 12, at Epworth United Methodist Church. Private burial will be at Restland Cemetery near Baxter.

Joyce was born and raised in the Baxter area. She graduated from Baxter High School in 1960 and married Wayne Klyn in 1961. Joyce was active in the Order of Eastern Star, Jaycee-Ettes, Graham Cemetery Association, and TOPS. She lived in Altoona, Mingo and Colfax. Joyce was employed by Iowa Methodist Medical center, Mid-Iowa Heart and helped on the family farm operation. Joyce and Wayne divorced in 1989 and she later married Dale Ohrtman in 1991.

Joyce and Dale retired to the Altoona and Grimes areas. Joyce enjoyed watching her grandchildren participate in school activities and playing sports.

Joyce is survived by her sons, Curt (Kristy) Klyn of Grimes and Kevin (Dagmar) Klyn of Maintal, Germany; her grandchildren, Gunnar, Katrina, Christian, Samantha and Julien; five step-children and several step-grandchildren and step-great grandchildren; her sister, Judy (Duane) Waskow of Valley View, TX and her aunt, Colleen Shaffer of Pinole, CA.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Eileen (Geisler) Allan, her husband Dale Ohrtman and her sister, Janet (Edward) Burton.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, June 11, at Iles Funeral Homes-Grandview Park Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to the Baxter Alumni Association or Hospice of Central Iowa. ~ The Colfax Tribune, Colfax, Iowa 14 June 2012.
