George E. Kydd, 77, of Guttenberg, formerly of Marion, died Saturday, May 2, 2015, at Mercy Hospital, Dubuque. A celebration of life will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, May 9 at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Marion. A graveside service will be at a later date.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara; two sons, Dave (Karen) Kydd of Carmel, Ind., and Tom (Danelle) Kydd of Marion; and 10 grandchildren, Bailey, Austin, John, Greg, Meagan, Tyler, Nick, Emily, Ali and Nate.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

George was born Oct. 7, 1937, in Kellogg, the son of Howard and Anna (Neleman) Kydd. He graduated from Kellogg High School and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy having served from 1956 to 1960.

George married Barbara Hagen July 20, 1960, at the Methodist Church in Kellogg. He worked with Rockwell Collins in Cedar Rapids, until his retirement in 1997. George was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed fishing, hunting and golfing. George participated in RAGBRAI numerous times with the Toddville Toads.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Wounded Warrior Project in George’s memory.
