Joyce A. (Hausner) Nicholson, 81, of Newton died Wednesday, Nov. 6, 2013, at her home in Park Centre in Newton.

A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Eednesday, Nov. 13 at the First Presbyterian Church, 220 N. Second Ave. E. in Newton. The family will greet friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 12 at Wallace Family Funeral Home. ~ Jasper County Tribune, Colfax, Iowa. Thursday, November 7, 2013

Those left to honor Joyce's memory are her husband of 62 years, Jack of Newton; two daughters, Janell (John) McClellan of Woodbury, Minnesota, and Janet Groen of Omaha, Nebraska; her three grandchildren, Katherine “Kaytie” Groen of Omaha, Nebraska, Jenna (David) Estlick of Minneapolis, Minnesota, and Jeremy (Jenny) Groen of Omaha, Nebraska; and great-grandson, Dominic Estlick.

Joyce graduated from Colfax High School in 1950, she had also attended Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa. She was a homemaker, and she had worked as a Realtor in Newton in the 1980’s.

Joyce was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church; she was also a member of PEO Chapter AO for 60+ years, MNO Club for 60 years, she was a board member of the Jasper County Concert Association, and had been a Hospice volunteer.

Joyce loved her family and friends. She enjoyed baking, cooking, quilting, and gardening.
