A Mother’s Death
Mrs. D. C. Clark, aged fifty years, the foster mother of Mrs. C. E. Behner, died at the home of her daughter, in Newton, Saturday evening, January 10, 1903, at 9:35. She came to Newton about thirty days ago to visit Mrs. Behner whom she loved as her own child, having taken her to raise when she was a child two years old. She had enjoyed her visit exceedingly well and was thinking about returning to her home in Plainview, Minnesota, when she was taken sick with pneumonia about a week before she died. Her death was unexpected until Saturday when she sank into a stupor from which she failed to Rally.
Rev. L. G. Smith conducted a short service at the Behner home, Monday morning and the remains were taken to her home for burial accompanied by Mr. and Mrs. Behner.
Her husband who had been notified, arrived in Newton, about an hour after the funeral party had started for Plainview, but as trains were late he caught up with them in Grinnell.
