Surviving are her daughters, Lynette Webster (Jeff Wagner) and Andrea Rojohn, both of West Des Moines, Sana (Mark) Zamarripa of Pueblo, Colorado and Liz (Dave) Nagler of Lannon, Wisconsin; son, Bill (Nancy) Rhodes of Rothschild, Wisconsin; daughter-in-law, Connie Rhodes of Lawrence, Kansas; grandchildren, Cyndi Webster-Miller and Rebecca (Will) Hellenthall, Matthew and Chris Rhodes, Jill and Danny Zamarripa, Austin Nagler and Jim, Laura and Katie Rhodes; great-grandchidren, Samantha Miller and Calen Hellentall plus seven step great-grandchildren; and her sisters, Lorraine Forret and Charlotte Flora.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Samuel M. “Sam” Rhodes in 2005; sons, Curtis Rojohn and Steve Rhodes; and brother, Richard Goodman.

She was born on February 11, 1930 in Melbourne, Iowa to Andrew and Henrietta (Vanderah) Goodman. Jean graduated from Baxter High School in 1948 where she played varsity basketball for 4 years as number 24. After Jean’s children became teenagers, she became a real estate agent/broker in Newton for over 30 years, beginning at Birkenholz Realty, later at her own company, Action Realty and then at Better Homes & Gardens Real Estate. On April 23, 1994 Jan and Sam Rhodes married and combined their families.

Jean loved spending summers at their home in Minnesota, fishing and hunting with Sam. Jean was a loving and devoted mom, grandma, great-grandma, sister, aunt and friend.

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials to Mercy Hospice-Johnston. Memorials may be left at the Wallace Family Funeral Home. Memorials may also be mailed to the funeral home, please add, Attn: Rhodes Family on the envelope. ~ The Wallace Family Funeral Home, Newton, Iowa 27 Feb 2015.
