William "Bill" C. Hutt, 82, of Iowa City, formerly of Colfax, died Tuesday, February 24, 2015 at Lantern Park Nursing and Rehab Center in Coralville. Bill was born August 18, 1932 in Osceola, the son of Orlin B. and Pearl Thompson Hutt. He graduated from Shenandoah High School in 1950 and attended Bowling Green University for one year before entering the Air Force. He served in the US Air Force from 1951 to 1955. Bill received his Bachelor of Arts degree in music education from the University of Iowa in 1959, where he was a member of the Iowa Hawkeye Marching Band, playing both the Alto Sax and Clarinet. He marched in the 1957 Rose Bowl parade.

On May 21st, 1960 he married Marlene Dolinsek at the Colfax United Presbyterian Church. Bill spent most of his career in sales and manufacturing in the Newton and Des Moines area. He retired in 1995 from Firestone. He was a member of University of Iowa alumni marching band for 35 years, New Horizons Band, City of Newton Band, Colfax Jazz Band, Newton Jaycees. He enjoyed Civil War history and loved listening to Big Band and Classical Music. Bill also served on the advisory committee for Easter Seals. No services are planned at this time. Memorial donations may be made to the Coralville Center for Performing Arts or New Horizons Band.

Survivors include his loving wife, Marlene and their daughter, Jan (Mike) Finlayson; granddaughter, Gabby, all of Iowa City; his sister, Dixie Dailey of Shenandoah.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
