Leona Jabaai, age 90, of Colfax completed her journey on earth and arrived in heaven on February 14, 2015 while at home. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 17, 2015, at First Reformed Church in Prairie City, with Pastor Mark Ellens officiating. Private burial will be held at later date at Waveland Cemetery in Prairie City. Visitation will be held at the church on Monday from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. Memorials in Leona's name may be directed to Unity Point Hospice and/or First Reformed Church. Born March 22, 1924, in Monroe, Iowa, Leona Lyntje (Van Zee) Jabaai was the daughter of Antonie M and Hattie (Menninga) Van Zee. She grew up and received her education in Otley, Iowa. On January 25, 1945, Leona was united in marriage to Leonard Jabaai in Otley, Iowa. Leona was a homemaker and farmer with her husband. She enjoyed working on the farm, gardening, cooking, spending time with her family and church family. She was a member of the First Reformed Church in Prairie City where in earlier years she taught Sunday school and led Girls League for many years.

She is survived by her husband, Leonard of 70 years; three children, Arlene (Gary) Fields of Reeds Spring, MO, Linda (Ken) Van Roekel of Branson, MO, and Sharon (Allen) Gilbert of Prairie City. Five grandchildren, Amy Jo Zach, Kelly Mehmen, Craig Van Ryswyk, Brenda Smith and Amanda Van Ekeren and 14 great grandchildren. Other survivors include her sister Pat Vermeer of Pella and sister and brother in law, Celia (John Martin) DeVries of Pella. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and other extended family members and close friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Antonie M. Van Zee and Hattie (Menninga) Van Zee, Son in law, Harold Van Ryswyk, grandson, Shawn Van Roekel and brothers, Arthur Van Zee, Marvin Van Zee and Raymond Van Zee. ~ The Coburn Funeral Home, Colfax, Iowa 14 Feb 2015.
