Wilbur Robson 1932 - 2015

Wilbur M. Robson, age 82, of Mountain Home, Arkansas died Thursday, February 5, 2015 in Mountain Home.

Wilbur was preceded in death by his parents, Wilbur D. and Sarah Olive McDaniel Robson of Newton, Iowa.

Wilbur is survived by his best friend and wife of 63 years, Audrey Robson; his son, David Robson (Debra) of Mountain Home, Arkansas and his daughter, Teresa Adams (Dan) of Clovis, California. "Grandpa Wilb" is survived by his four grandchildren and one great-grandchild, Samantha Oswald (Chad) and baby, Jasper of Post Falls, Idaho, Mackenzie Robson of Rathdrum, Idaho, Joseph Adams (Allison) of Houston, Texas and Stephen Adams of New York, New York.

Wilbur was born on August 28, 1932 in Newton, Iowa. He met Audrey at Newton High School in Newton, Iowa where they were voted "Couple of the Year" before he graduated in 1951. He was a talented athlete, particularly in baseball, reaching the Major League level with the Chicago Cubs before serving in the Korean War in the United States Army. Upon returning from service, Wilbur and Audrey settled in Newton, Iowa. Wilbur spent 31 years working for Maytag in Newton, before retiring to Mountain Home in 1988. Wilbur was a member of East Side Baptist Church, and Barton's Sunday School Class, an avid St. Louis Cardinals and Arkansas Razorbacks fan, and a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, February 11, 2015, at Kirby & Family Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Richard Crawford officiating. Visitation will be from 9:00 A.M. until the time of service. Entombment will be at the Kirby's Tucker Memorial Mausoleum, Mountain Home, Arkansas with Joseph Adams, Stephen Adams, Danny Ponder, Boyce Rorie, Gordon Barton, Marvis Sherrill and John Magee as pallbearers. Military honors will be provided by the Alley-White American Legion Post #52 Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to the Alley-White American Legion Post #52 or Gideon's International. Arrangements are by Kirby & Family Funeral and Cremation Services.
