Patricia Ruth Klingensmith (Stone) 70, of Monroe, formerly of Albia, died Thursday, Jan. 29, 2015, in the comfort of her home surrounded by her family and loved ones.

She was born Dec. 16, 1944, in Iowa, to Frederick Harvey Stone and Florence Elizabeth Miller. Pat graduated from Albia High School with the class of 1963. On March 22, 1964, she was united in marriage to Dale Klingensmith at the United Brethren Church in Albia. She was raised in Albia, and moved to Monroe in 1971.

Pat was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Albia. She enjoyed crocheting, quilting, playing cards and spending time with her family and friends.

Patty is survived by her son, Joe (Bev) Klingensmith of Newton; two daughters, Lori (Brett) Cole and Amy (Jason) Birkenholtz both of Monroe; six grandchildren, Christopher and Daniel Cole, Wade and Reed Klingensmith, and Hannah and Carter Birkenholtz; a sister, Donna (Richard) Peterson of Albia; a sister-in-law Lynda (Mike) Stone; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Dale; parents, Frederick and Florence; and a brother, Mike Stone.

A funeral service was Saturday, Jan. 31 at the Tharp Funeral Home in Albia, with Gary Reeves, cousin, officiating. Burial followed at Oakwood Cemetery in Albia.

An open memorial has been established in Pat’s name.
